That's a major cause for many modern cultural and social problems in Japan. Everything is about being the best in everything, except your own personal life. That's the cause behind so much social isolation, depression, anxiety, high suicide rates and a almost completely secular life-style. They have everything, except love and self-care. From my experience, Muslims in Iran are almost practicing a political cult version of the religion in most cases.
